PEN POINTS: Would Winston Churchill Declare War On The Coronavirus?

Historian Andrew Roberts and Ryan Holiday talked leadership, character, and how one person can change the world on the Daily Stoic Podcast.

Roberts, the author of Churchill, Walking With Destiny, noted that if Winston Churchill were alive today he would very much think we are fighting a war against the coronavirus. Roberts read the following paragraph from a speech that Churchill gave to the Royal College of Physicians in March of 1944.

“The discoveries of the healing science must be the inheritance of all. That is clear. Disease must be attacked whether it occurs in the poorest or the richest man or woman simply on the ground that it is the enemy. It must be attacked just in the same way as the fire brigade will give its full assistance to the humblest cottage as readily as the most important mansion.”
