Inspirational Books and Podcasts In An Economy Of Disruption
Reflective Thinking — Creative Thinking — Lateral Thinking — Convergent Thinking — Divergent Thinking
I am a veteran of the now dying “old school journalism” of “just the facts mam.” The news industry is a case study in disruption and creative destruction caused by the Internet and Web 2.0.
The rapid change in a globalized economy is the norm. Permanent economic dislocation is the norm.
The traditional job model of learning for the first 25-years of your life and getting a job is obsolete.
65% of children in grade school today are predicted to work in jobs that have yet to be invented.
62% of jobs will be in danger within the next 10-20 years.
For example, autonomous vehicles will potentially destroy 2.5 million truck driving jobs.
Your skills can quickly become irrelevant.
There’s only one person interested in your success and well being. That person is you and you alone.
Don’t count on learning on the job. In today’s marketplace, most managers and companies don’t develop talent and leadership.
Can you hear the thundering hoofbeats of the next Google or Amazon coming to eliminate your job or stamp out your business model?
The good news is that Alexa and robots can’t replace creativity — at least not yet.
We need to nurture creative thinking skills and a personal growth mindset to stay attuned and ahead of inevitable change.
Learning is a lifetime pursuit.
This Reflective Thinking reading list and podcast listening list reflects my personal guide to lifelong learning.
